40 more hexagons

40. That's the number of pieces I added to my quilt this weekend.  MUST BUY MORE FABRIC!!!!  No, I'll be good and get back into my charm square collection.  I even got a new Riley Blake charm pack that I was going to use for a new coaster and table topper pattern.  I'll just cut into it and buy another one.

I'm at work this morning and usually have my hexie bag with me.  This morning I need to glue baste more hexies.

Hexamania

English paper piecing has taken over my life.  I can't do anything without wondering if and how much it will cut into  my hexie time.  Since February of this year there have been maybe 10 days where I haven't touched them. I still have a looooong way to go before my quilt top is finished.  It's a scrappy with no pattern and I'm thinking of embroidering on some of the hexies.  Not in a pattern or any order.  Just picking random "squares" and embellishing them with French knots, dates like started and finished, sequins, beads, stitching.  I'll be handquilting it with perle cotton 8.

I had only pieced 200 back in March and a lady from church wanted to do it. Fast forward to Thanksgiving and she said expressed again that she wanted me to teach her. I'll be doing that in December sometime.
I've taught one class of one student at Sew Main Street in Woodstock, GA.  She is now totally addicted. I've got another class scheduled for Tues. December 4.

Where Friends Gather

There is a new (less than a year old) fabric store in the town where I work. It is 75 miles from my home, but it's already my home away from home.  They know my name, my work partners are understanding when I drag them with me, and I'm now teaching English paper piecing later this week.

The owner is absolutely delightful, full of fun and laughter. The other girls who work there are so wonderful, nice, friendly, and encouraging.  They are always introducing customers to each other.  I go in at least once a week during breaks at work or waiting on my carpooling partner and sit in the class room to work on my hexies. My hexagons alone have started many conversations.

So if any of you live in Woodstock, GA, or are just passing thru, please take the time and come downtown to visit Debi and the Girls at The Whole Nine Yarns and Sew Main Street.
